Psychotherapy or psychological consultation are forms of care that many people will undertake at some point in life. What remains essential is to insure the approach to care best fits the needs of the individual.
I use an initial intake session to determine the specific nature of your concerns, then help you identify goals and a time frame for care.
All of the psychological care I do is via telehealth. This allows for accessibility and confidentiality. I can provide you with psychotherapy or consultation if you live anywhere in Minnesota or Michigan. For patients located in Minnesota, I am contracted with the Great Lakes Psychology Group. That practice does my scheduling and insurance billing for all Minnesota patients. You should confirm with your insurer that Great Lakes Psychology Group is in-network.
Some of the treatment I do is short-term and focused, with the length of treatment depending on the nature of your concerns and identified goals. At times, psychotherapy may involve only 12 to 15 sessions. Psychological consultation to provide, for example, guidance or clarification to parents regarding a child's ADHD diagnosis may be only one or two extended sessions.
I do see a number of patients for longer term psychotherapy. In these cases, we will review progress and goals at regular intervals.
My approach is informed by clinical research and sound theory, as well as 30 years of experience, and I integrate knowledge from multiple models of psychological care to best suit your needs.
